24 Sturbridge Road Storm Water Violation
Context
Ongoing enforcement case against the property owner at 24 Sturbridge Road (abutting 17 Griffin Road, near Route 20) for unpermitted land-disturbance/grading activity discharging storm water runoff into Route 20 state drainage and eventually Katy Brook (a protected cold-water fishery resource). Conservation agent documented violations dating to a letter in December 2022 and a further notice in November 2025, with $300/day fines assessed (five issued to date as of Aug 2026) and a 2026 land-disturbance permit application denied for lack of documentation. Owner has not complied; town is now pursuing legal counsel. Owner has since retained McClure Engineering and must go before the Planning Board for site plan approval, since the underlying land-disturbance work requires one.
