Healthy Cities Wellness Grant and Prindle Pond Fitness Area
Context
A ~$30,000 outdoor-exercise wellness grant ("Healthy Cities") was forwarded to the Recreation Commission by Andrew Golas. In July members preferred siting a fitness playground at town-owned Prindle Pond (existing parking, lake view, currently only mowed), though winter usability and maintenance were concerns. By August the commission judged the project expensive (local match possibly $100K or more), a maintenance burden, a poor fit, and of little public interest on Facebook, and decided to pass. It will watch for other grants using the Open Space & Recreation Plan.
Status
Resolved: commission declined the grant on August 10, 2026.
