Context

The fire chief re-requested a fire inspector (unfunded in January) and the police asked for a second lieutenant. The committee's consensus was "not right now" and to revisit both in FY28 budget hearings (January-March), citing long-term benefit costs, the school-assessment shift, and new growth only at the ~$1M benchmark.
