2026-07-15 - Recreation Commission Meeting
Summary
Built from ASR auto-captions (no speaker labels; names and figures may be misheard; the captions say the meeting date is "July 20th" and discuss an "August 10th" next meeting, while the video is dated July 15). The Charlton Recreation Commission opened at 6:08 p.m. and approved the June 8, 2026 minutes. Under new business the chair said he would call New England Seal about the pickleball court service contact, and the board discussed a roughly $30,000 Healthy Cities wellness grant for outdoor exercise forwarded by Andrew Golas; members favored siting a fitness playground at the underused town-owned Prindle Pond area (existing parking, lake view) rather than the Buffum Road open space or the center-of-town playground, and one member agreed to research what the grant covers and report back. The board voted to pay three Slim's portable toilet invoices for July ($220 each), then the August ones, and approved paying the Economy sprinkler repair invoices of about $2,633 (over estimate, but supporting the ball fields). The FY26 year-end and FY27 budget were reviewed (about $3,000 stipends, $8,300 expenses, $100 Memorial Day, and an unexplained old playground/fields article balance from 2015-2016 town meeting to be clarified with town staff). Routine safety checks noted trash at the skate park and Upper Maynard, with Highway asked to check weekly.
The main item was the youth-league wish lists funded from the Amazon-related recreation account that has been sitting idle. Little League listed eight items (lights at roughly $300-400K, treated as a capital request to the Finance Committee; infield sod; batting cage replacement; dugout fencing/carpentry flagged as a safety item, estimated at $1,500 or less; portable mound; bleachers; storage shed siding/rot repair), softball asked for a scoreboard ballpark sign ($15,000), additional shed ($6,000) and a mini-split for the board room/snack shack (~$4,000). Members noted procurement rules: $10,000-$100,000 requires three written quotes, so hard prices will be requested from the league contacts. Votes: the board approved donating $2,158.95 from the Amazon account for an AED for Charlton Youth Football (a safety item), and $5,147.99 for an outdoor sound system and mic for the football league. Soccer has not yet responded. A promised second pickleball bench (materials via the Home Depot card, a few hundred dollars) is delayed; the board will check back in September. The next meeting was set for August 10, in person at the Highway garage, and the member plans to add a 1995 Maynard Field site plan copy to the commission file. The meeting adjourned at about 6:44 p.m.
Issues discussed: Recreation Youth League Wish Lists and Amazon Fund, Healthy Cities Wellness Grant and Prindle Pond Fitness Area, Pickleball Court Maintenance and Benches
Transcript
0:07 | All right, here we are for the Town of
0:09 | Charleston Recreation Commission meeting
0:11 | for July 20th, 2026.
0:14 | It is 6:08 p.m. Like to call the meeting
0:18 | to order. Our first up, we have our June
0:20 | 8th, 2026 meeting minutes. Um Pat, have
0:24 | you had a chance to take a look at
0:25 | those?
0:26 | >> Yep, they look great to me.
0:28 | >> All right. I'd like to make a motion we
0:30 | approve the meeting minutes from June
0:32 | 8th, 2026.
0:34 | >> I second.
0:36 | >> All those in favor?
0:37 | >> I.
0:39 | >> All right.
0:41 | Next up for new business, we got a
0:42 | Dorian Dhy email with a phone call from
0:45 | New England Seal for the pickle ball
0:47 | court. Um, I don't ever recall. Did we
0:49 | ever I know this is probably months ago.
0:52 | Did we ever reach out to them or they
0:55 | just reaching out for to see if we need
0:56 | any service?
0:58 | I mean they they're like Diane maybe
1:02 | called him if there was some you know
1:03 | peeling or something like that but I
1:05 | don't I um haven't definitely I haven't
1:09 | >> all right I I will make a point this
1:11 | week to call them to just to check in
1:14 | and see if we a they did receive a call
1:17 | from uh this board at any point or if
1:21 | they're just checking and see if we need
1:22 | any service. I'll give them a call this
1:24 | week.
1:27 | Right. Next up, we have the healthy city
1:30 | c city's wellness grant. Um it was a
1:34 | Andrew Golas had sent that to us and uh
1:37 | dealt with um was a grant for what
1:39 | $30,000 that's available for outdoor
1:43 | exercise.
1:45 | >> That's that sounds great. Um
1:48 | >> yeah, it uh my only thing to think about
1:51 | with that is um what I mean only
1:57 | considering what type of climate we live
1:58 | in, how it won't it'll be great during
2:02 | the summer and probably the part of the
2:03 | spring and a little bit of the fall, but
2:05 | come the winter, I mean, no one's doing
2:07 | the outside stuff, I wouldn't think. I
2:10 | mean, I don't know if we want a table to
2:13 | discuss it more. Um just like the
2:16 | different options, the pros and the cons
2:19 | >> of it.
2:21 | >> Is it is it like
2:24 | you take a trail and then you add some
2:27 | healthy more health activities into it?
2:30 | I mean did have you looked any more
2:32 | looked into it any more than what what
2:35 | he sent
2:36 | >> at all?
2:36 | >> I have not. I'm just I mean if
2:40 | what I one of my things is I mean give
2:43 | me your thoughts on this because you
2:44 | know how we have especially I I think
2:46 | the one that's most fresh my mind is the
2:48 | open space area down um on the
2:50 | subdivision down by Buffam. It's off of
2:52 | um Buffam Road. Dave Jeem had done it.
2:55 | And you pull in that because I think
2:56 | that part of that that open space area
2:58 | in the trail is connected to the
3:01 | Midstate Trail.
3:03 | And I don't know if if the town should
3:05 | take advantage of if they were to if we
3:08 | were to go forward this have it in an
3:10 | area like that or even next to possibly
3:13 | the playground at the center of town
3:16 | would be a spot where people gather. I
3:18 | don't I don't know here. Let me
3:20 | >> I mean like the trails the trail I mean
3:23 | it's it's I know it needs to be on town
3:25 | land but I'm like you know
3:28 | >> the trails behind the uh Masonic but
3:31 | there must be other I mean we do have a
3:33 | lot of trails we can
3:36 | um
3:38 | Oh no without a doubt without a doubt.
3:41 | And
3:43 | um cuz I think I I've done a job down
3:46 | there on Buffam and I I see it because I
3:48 | mean they have a parking area. I mean
3:50 | there's a three to four car parking area
3:52 | but still and um
3:57 | it's one of those
4:02 | it's one of those things that yeah it
4:03 | would be great to take advantage of it
4:04 | and need to be on town man. And then the
4:06 | old other of like anything that you
4:08 | build is
4:10 | uh the maintenance of it. What are you
4:12 | going to build it out of
4:14 | and stuff like that? Maybe we should
4:16 | look more into it. I know that this is
4:17 | fresh.
4:18 | >> You know where we we what we else that
4:20 | we don't we don't utilize is the Prindle
4:23 | pond area.
4:26 | >> Correct.
4:26 | >> And we have that whole
4:29 | >> we have that whole I mean
4:31 | >> flat area up top. Um,
4:34 | >> yeah,
4:35 | >> let let me let me make it a play after
4:37 | we're done. I'll go and I'll look at the
4:39 | because I'm like if we if we created
4:42 | like a fitness playground up there.
4:45 | >> Yep.
4:45 | >> It's already parking already there.
4:48 | >> Correct.
4:49 | >> Spaces. There is
4:52 | it's it's it overlooks the beautiful
4:53 | lake. I mean, I don't know like what
4:55 | they're like what exactly they're
4:57 | thinking about, but
4:59 | I mean, in my I've I've been thinking
5:02 | about since your when we started looking
5:05 | at the pickle ball court location and we
5:06 | went up there and measured um I had that
5:10 | I had that location in the back of my
5:11 | mind because it is really beautiful and
5:13 | we don't use it at all.
5:15 | I at least wanted to throw a couple of,
5:17 | you know, picnic tables up there or
5:19 | something, but um I'm like maybe this
5:22 | might
5:23 | >> be something. Let's I mean,
5:27 | >> yeah, worth definitely worthwhile
5:28 | looking to the Prindle area because
5:30 | actually I drove I went that way. I was
5:32 | trying to avoid Route 20 I think on
5:35 | Saturday. I forgot what day it was. I
5:37 | was trying to avoid it. I drove right by
5:38 | it and and I looked down there and it's
5:40 | just I mean no one was there but either
5:42 | way I think it was but it was still a
5:44 | great area that parking that's available
5:46 | up top.
5:47 | >> Yeah. So it's I mean because there's
5:49 | already parking and you know and we own
5:52 | it. Um and it's we really don't do
5:54 | anything with it. We mow it.
5:57 | >> That's it. So
5:58 | >> yeah, that's about it. So I maybe yeah
6:00 | let let me um I I should have looked
6:04 | more just um between you know one kid
6:08 | going to college and one going into a I
6:10 | just like like insane. Um, so let me let
6:14 | me I will um
6:17 | do a look a little more in what they're
6:19 | thinking like what exactly
6:22 | >> what exactly this grant
6:25 | would cover and if if it makes sense to
6:28 | to do something up there. Um uh
6:33 | the outdoor and like I mean so yeah, let
6:36 | me do a little more research and I'll
6:37 | come back and I'll shoot an email over
6:38 | and then we can talk about it at the
6:39 | next meeting. Um,
6:41 | >> all right. Perfect.
6:44 | All right. Great idea. The prindle
6:46 | though. Didn't think of that. All right.
6:48 | Uh, next up we have financing bills. We
6:51 | got slims with some portable toilet
6:53 | invoices. Three of them for the month of
6:54 | July for $220 each.
6:59 | >> Um,
7:02 | >> yeah. Let me make a can I make a motion
7:04 | to pay the um the Slims um portable
7:10 | toilet invoices um for the month of
7:12 | July?
7:14 | >> All right, I second that. All those in
7:16 | favor?
7:17 | >> I
7:18 | >> I All right, it's a vote. Then also um
7:22 | they already sent the I know we're
7:24 | having a meeting later on in the month
7:26 | and we usually do. They already they
7:27 | already sent the August ones. Do you
7:29 | want to wait till our August meeting to
7:30 | to do those or do you just want to do
7:32 | those now?
7:33 | >> All right. Uh All right. We have three
7:35 | in invoices for the month of August 2026
7:39 | at 228. We have a motion to
7:42 | >> uh pay those.
7:43 | >> Um I make a motion that we we pay the um
7:47 | the three invoices for the sprinkler
7:49 | repairs um
7:52 | and uh all the all the sprinkler
7:55 | repairs. all the sprinkler invoices.
7:58 | >> All right. So, they went I don't if you
8:01 | had a chance to look at the invoice
8:02 | because I uh Loren had mentioned it to
8:05 | me that they they went over the
8:08 | estimate, which is fine because I'm I'm
8:10 | totally in favor of getting those things
8:13 | those sprinklers back online, especially
8:15 | for those two ball fields. So, the total
8:17 | was $2,633.
8:19 | They found a couple others that were
8:20 | broken and they saw it. But I have no
8:22 | issue with that. Just so we get the the
8:24 | dollar amount
8:24 | >> y
8:25 | >> down. Yeah. $2,633
8:28 | for those economy sprinkler invoices.
8:31 | >> Um I make a motion that we pay the
8:34 | economy uh one sprinkler invoices.
8:37 | >> All right. I second that. All those in
8:39 | favor? I
8:40 | >> I This is good. Now hopefully this will
8:43 | improve the condition of the fields and
8:45 | and you know just uh
8:47 | >> Oh yeah. I know in the future like when
8:50 | you when you keep it
8:51 | >> um well hydrated then the it helps like
8:57 | long term better too in those fields
9:00 | >> without a doubt especially on a dry
9:02 | summer like we're having now. We had a
9:04 | dry one last year as well. So it can
9:06 | only help. It can only help. All right.
9:10 | Next up, we uh Loren had sent over the
9:14 | um FY end of year update for the budget.
9:20 | All right.
9:22 | So, we had $166 left over for sip, $100
9:27 | remaining for recreation memorial day.
9:30 | All right. We used none of the Amazon
9:33 | last year.
9:34 | And then
9:37 | the budget for 2027.
9:41 | All right, we have 3,000 for stipens.
9:45 | Oh
9:48 | No one.
9:51 | 3,000 for stipens. 8,300
9:56 | killing me.
9:59 | 8,300 for expenses. $100 for Memorial
10:01 | Day. Now the playgrounds. What's that
10:04 | one for the $7,54.77?
10:07 | Are you familiar with that one?
10:08 | >> Is that maintenance?
10:09 | >> The article could be
10:11 | >> It could be because it says it's dated.
10:12 | It's from the annual town meeting in
10:14 | 2015.
10:15 | Town meeting article number 10 fields in
10:19 | 2016. That was article five. I mean it's
10:22 | $432.60
10:23 | minimum. [clears throat] So
10:26 | >> um so the
10:29 | is that just left over from the that was
10:31 | way before my time. I'm just pulling out
10:33 | the budget myself.
10:34 | >> Okay, that's fine. We I can get more
10:36 | clarity from Loren if we need be.
10:39 | >> And she I I think we probably have to go
10:42 | to Ashley, right? Because
10:43 | >> Yeah.
10:46 | >> Um
10:46 | >> could be. It's just part of it part of
10:48 | paying it off, I guess. What was what
10:51 | was appropriate for it at town meeting
10:52 | in 2015 and what's how long they um laid
10:56 | it out.
10:56 | >> We'll have to get more information.
10:58 | We've It's funny that we've really not
11:00 | um it's only been Diane in all since
11:02 | I've been here that's been really
11:04 | looking at the budget.
11:05 | >> I'm just I was just wondering what those
11:08 | were. Just out of curiosity.
11:09 | >> I don't have a history. It's only been
11:11 | like this is only my um third year or
11:14 | second yeah second year. So yeah, I
11:17 | never really um spent at least since
11:19 | I've been here looking at the budget and
11:21 | kind of and budgeting, you know, and
11:23 | actually um sort of even sitting in
11:25 | front of like a finance committee
11:28 | >> at least only D. So, you know, some time
11:30 | to to look and see um
11:33 | >> if there's if there's other
11:35 | >> that that kind of that whole capital
11:37 | thing. But I think we talked about
11:38 | having a meeting right at some point to
11:40 | kind of talk about like any long-term
11:42 | more long-term like capital stuff that
11:43 | we might think that um we would want to
11:47 | work toward or whatever.
11:49 | >> Okay. Gotcha.
11:52 | All right. Um no phone calls email. I
11:55 | got to check out that one that Diane had
11:58 | had forwarded over to us as well as the
12:01 | request. Uh safety check. I just need to
12:04 | type those. They've been fine. just had
12:06 | some trash down at uh the skate park on
12:09 | Friday.
12:11 | Um I just need to get those reports over
12:13 | to um the selectman's office.
12:17 | >> Did they take that? There was a like a
12:19 | broken scooter that I had um a couple of
12:22 | weeks ago I actually like moved it from
12:25 | over by the trash. Did was that gone or
12:27 | that still there?
12:28 | >> Gone. Gone. Yep.
12:30 | >> Okay.
12:30 | >> It was gone. And then also I I know I
12:33 | when I talked to learning today I haded
12:34 | to give the guys from Highway a heads up
12:36 | just to make it a priority to check that
12:38 | trash on a weekly basis. That trash was
12:40 | pretty full.
12:42 | So and then same thing with uh upper
12:45 | Maynard with the kids football start and
12:48 | it creates more trash as well.
12:51 | So all right old business we uh we got
12:53 | some wish lists from Little League
12:55 | softball football review and possible
12:57 | approval.
12:59 | Um,
13:01 | we got actually I printed these ones
13:03 | out. I had a chance to take a I got took
13:07 | a look quick look at these. Uh, we'll do
13:10 | um look at the little league ones first.
13:16 | Um,
13:20 | the little league they're uh they have
13:22 | the number one through eight. They came
13:24 | up with eight things at their last board
13:26 | meeting that they had in July. Um
13:29 | they're looking for some workable lights
13:30 | possibly.
13:32 | Um additional sod for the infield
13:35 | edging.
13:37 | They search as a yearly maintenance for
13:38 | them. Badam cage replacement
13:42 | more or less the netting and some
13:44 | mechanical
13:46 | stuff to hold it up.
13:48 | That cost they give
13:51 | the eastern bon cage grading and new
13:54 | turf in the baron cage dugouts.
13:58 | Um,
14:01 | safety has it. All right. Don't like
14:03 | that.
14:04 | But safety, I mean, it's just me. If
14:06 | it's a safety thing, I like to
14:07 | prioritize it, I guess.
14:08 | >> Yeah. What is it? What is What is the
14:10 | safety?
14:11 | >> A dug a dugout. The fencing and the
14:13 | carpentry. And both dugouts are in bad
14:15 | shape. There's an there is an area in
14:16 | the fencing where kids can and do slip
14:18 | through the access the field rather than
14:21 | using the entrance. Needs to be patched.
14:22 | And there's a safety hazard. Did the
14:25 | fencing ever get caught up or just the
14:26 | wrong way? Wood is rotting in certain
14:28 | areas and the shingles on top of the
14:29 | dugouts need replacement between fencing
14:31 | company and carpent should be a fairly
14:33 | modest fix costwise.
14:36 | All right. Um portable mound
14:40 | estimate cost 2 to 3,000 bleaches.
14:43 | He said he he brought up the neck. Uh
14:48 | all right that should get looked at.
14:50 | Shed repair. Storage shed needs new
14:52 | siding.
14:54 | >> I think I think the storage should
14:56 | >> Yeah. shed has been like that for a long
14:58 | for quite a quite a while
15:00 | >> and not just siding. It looks like there
15:01 | might be a little bit of like kind of
15:03 | like rot on it too. So we need
15:05 | >> Yeah, absolutely. Maybe I could on the
15:08 | uh dugout area. I can get a cost
15:11 | estimate from Corey what he's thinking
15:13 | or what what they might think. Maybe
15:15 | they could if maybe one of if they one
15:17 | of their sponsors is a fence company,
15:19 | they could uh do something with that.
15:23 | And then um
15:24 | >> yeah, we So, we do have some of that
15:27 | Amazon money, right? So, if they could
15:29 | Oh, without a doubt.
15:30 | >> If somebody,
15:32 | you know, could give us, you know, could
15:35 | could
15:37 | volunteer to do um you know, you know,
15:40 | the the labor first, you know what I'm
15:42 | saying? Or whatever. Let's see what um
15:45 | >> Yeah,
15:45 | >> I know you're you're very very very good
15:47 | at I think you know everybody, so like
15:50 | you're but let's see. I mean, I I
15:51 | absolutely um am in am
15:56 | And if not, I think we should get
15:58 | estimates
16:00 | too. Um because I if definitely the
16:03 | safety stuff, you're right. We we we
16:05 | can't have um no can't have it. Can't
16:09 | have it. So maybe I can I can get back
16:11 | to Corey and if you can get some hard
16:13 | prices. I know with the lights that's a
16:15 | three to 400,000. That's a huge capital
16:18 | um expense. Um, and then but all the
16:22 | other things if I can get a hard price
16:23 | for them from him as far as these so
16:28 | that when if he gets us those we can do
16:31 | those accordingly based upon um
16:35 | what the our board thinks is is an
16:38 | important thing to to go forward
16:41 | >> as far as it goes to with baseball. for
16:44 | the um for the lights. Let's um
16:49 | make sure we add it to our list and
16:52 | let's add that as a
16:54 | as a as a a capital request like a
16:58 | request for um to make that investment.
17:02 | and we'll go to the finance committee
17:05 | and and and request for it and ask for
17:07 | it and say that you know it's one of
17:08 | those um uh
17:12 | it's it's also
17:15 | um
17:17 | said it'll also alleviate that said that
17:19 | cracking if they can stretch out if they
17:20 | can use the field more and stuff it
17:22 | might cause a lot of issu you know um
17:26 | and
17:29 | you know yeah that does that make sense
17:31 | to you at least Let's ask.
17:34 | >> Oh, without a doubt. Absolutely. Let's
17:36 | definitely ask. Without a doubt. And uh
17:38 | I guess same thing goes for when you go
17:40 | to look when you look at uh softballs
17:43 | because they have um they have
17:45 | scoreboard on there. I mean he uh John
17:49 | Pilis the who I heard from from softball
17:52 | put a a ball pocket on the scoreboard
17:55 | and that might fall under that or I mean
17:57 | I think that we have
17:59 | we have that amount
18:02 | we do have it it available I mean
18:06 | it's 15,000 they they put ballpark in
18:09 | the middle of the road scoreboard so um
18:12 | there was a chance that we could do that
18:15 | and then they have additional shed
18:18 | estimate 6,000 mini split system for the
18:20 | boardroom and snack shack would be 4,000
18:23 | I guess even on these we get hard cost
18:28 | again because I mean when you think
18:29 | about the lights
18:31 | and you compare it to the scoreboard
18:33 | it's a little different animal
18:36 | >> y
18:36 | >> for dollar amount
18:37 | >> yeah and let's I mean we so we we we
18:40 | have recreation money that we've been
18:42 | sort of letting sit there um you know
18:45 | thinking about new projects But if we I
18:48 | mean the these the fixes to what we have
18:52 | makes is is just as good as building
18:55 | something new, you know. Um
18:57 | >> right.
18:58 | >> Hey Pat, I got to step away for a
18:59 | second. I go say bye to my daughter.
19:00 | She's going to New York. Hold on.
19:41 | All right, I'm back. Sorry.
19:44 | >> Let's um
19:45 | >> Yeah, let's let's uh
19:50 | if I mean do you want to will you
19:53 | respond? Let them get a real a like it's
19:56 | 15,000. Um I don't know what that means
19:59 | for the procurement regs for this town.
20:02 | Um if we Well, because I mean that's
20:06 | Yeah, actually no, you're right because
20:11 | I think 10 thou I remember having this
20:13 | conversation with Nick
20:15 | >> about a month and a half ago. I think
20:16 | it's 10,000 over 10.
20:18 | >> It's got to go o out to uh public.
20:22 | >> We have to do we have to do bids um
20:28 | like RFP would it
20:30 | >> um you know the amounts went up. So let
20:33 | me let me just
20:35 | >> Okay.
20:36 | >> So anything
20:41 | so 10,000 to 100,000 requires a
20:44 | simplified competitive process where
20:46 | procurement officers maintain written
20:48 | quotes. So it you don't need to do a
20:50 | formal RFP but you do need um
20:53 | >> three bits three separate estimates,
20:55 | right?
20:55 | >> Yeah. Three separate estimates from 10
20:57 | to 100,000. So um that's
21:02 | That shouldn't be a a big deal. And um
21:07 | >> no.
21:08 | >> And
21:10 | let's see let's let's see what we have
21:13 | for
21:15 | quotes and then we we can add it back to
21:19 | the agenda to see if it's something that
21:22 | um we I mean that might be a um
21:26 | a nice thing to add to next season,
21:29 | right? So
21:30 | >> yeah, without a doubt. Yeah.
21:33 | >> Same thing probably for the um the dove
21:36 | out.
21:39 | >> Yeah. With the fencing. Yep. Without a
21:41 | doubt.
21:42 | >> I mean, I don't know if that's that's
21:43 | over what they're talking for prices.
21:45 | They said um what was the price for the
21:47 | dugout? Did they say like the um
21:49 | >> he didn't? No, Cory didn't put one in
21:51 | there on for the price of the dugout. He
21:54 | just uh specs company and carpenter.
21:56 | These should be probably fairly modest
21:58 | fixes to costwise. So, I don't I think
22:00 | it's 1,500 at the most.
22:03 | >> Oh. Oh, okay. Oh, okay.
22:06 | >> Possibly. So, I mean, then I guess we
22:09 | can we want we could do a group trip to
22:12 | look at the batting cage replacement and
22:14 | the and the um shed repair, stuff like
22:18 | that. Portable mount for the cage.
22:22 | Um maybe I could check with Corey to get
22:24 | some hard numbers on some of these.
22:26 | and like to shed. I mean, if we could um
22:29 | if it's something that uh Bay Path could
22:32 | do.
22:33 | >> Um
22:34 | >> yeah,
22:35 | >> absolutely.
22:36 | >> Um
22:37 | >> maybe we can
22:37 | >> I know sometimes that gets a little more
22:39 | a little a little more complicated, but
22:41 | that's a that's a I mean um I might be
22:45 | able to put signing on that um me
22:47 | as a you know my age female um actually
22:52 | that doesn't seem like it's so you know
22:54 | we maybe we give we can give them the
22:56 | opportunity um as a as a project or
23:00 | something um
23:01 | >> oh without a doubt
23:03 | without a doubt then next up
23:07 | >> uh we had football let me bring this up
23:11 | where's hers was Lis's
23:15 | the wish
23:16 | Uh, all right. So, they had
23:22 | they have she's got the
23:30 | defibrill
23:34 | for the onfield
23:40 | um
23:42 | safety item.
23:46 | Yeah. What is the I should open this
23:50 | >> cost is a legit cost $2,158.95.
23:59 | Um
24:11 | I mean
24:15 | I think that's important because it's a
24:16 | safety item.
24:18 | >> That almost makes me think that that
24:20 | like um it's scary that we don't have
24:23 | that.
24:24 | >> Correct. I know. I don't know whether
24:26 | the one that the league has now is
24:28 | outdated or what and I think that I
24:31 | every home game they have a a um
24:36 | they have a EMT as a detail.
24:40 | always have to pay a EMT. Is that
24:44 | >> every single home game? Every every home
24:46 | game is there's a a pay detail EMT on
24:50 | site.
24:51 | >> Does this help alleviate that if scored?
24:54 | >> It doesn't alleviate it, but it adds to
24:56 | it as far as even for practices and
25:00 | stuff as well if it's needed. But it's
25:03 | something to have
25:04 | >> store and they can store it in the
25:09 | snack shack or one of those storage
25:11 | sheds.
25:13 | There'll be something that's on site
25:15 | that the league owns.
25:21 | Yeah. I mean,
25:29 | I don't know how we I mean,
25:32 | at like that's something I think we
25:34 | should
25:35 | >> like vote
25:37 | >> like like I think we should we
25:38 | >> I know Brad's not here, but can we just
25:41 | can I make a motion that we um
25:44 | >> we the AED?
25:45 | >> Yeah, we purchase the AED for the
25:47 | football. Um and I know football is one
25:49 | of those um
25:52 | more dangerous, right? More dangerous
25:54 | sports and things happen. And I Yeah, I
25:57 | make a motion that we um
26:02 | um I don't know the I guess make a
26:04 | motion that we purchase an AED. We can
26:07 | kind of go through the um
26:09 | >> Well, I think it I think that it'll be
26:11 | uh to donate through the Amazon account,
26:15 | donate the money to the um Charlton
26:19 | Youth Football League, the AED machine
26:23 | >> because I mean I guess they can buy it
26:25 | they can buy it taxree also, right? I
26:27 | wonder but I wonder if we can get a
26:29 | better deal through our fire department
26:30 | or something.
26:32 | >> Uh
26:34 | I don't know. I don't want to.
26:39 | >> Okay. I I make a motion that we donate
26:41 | the cost of this AED. Um this estimate
26:44 | is 2,158
26:48 | um
26:51 | >> $158.95.
26:53 | >> Yeah.
26:54 | >> Okay.
26:55 | >> Out of the Amazon account. All right.
26:57 | Amazon.
26:57 | >> Out of the Amazon account.
26:59 | >> All right. I second that.
27:01 | All those in favor? Hi.
27:04 | >> Hi. Then also Lisa Al the vice president
27:09 | of the football. She had on here uh
27:13 | speaker system for the for the field
27:15 | during game day. Um
27:18 | he had the hard price on that with this
27:21 | just to upgrade their speaker system
27:23 | with the one speaker that they have down
27:26 | there now just for a down at the games.
27:28 | And I'm announcing if anyone needs to
27:30 | move their car if they're illegally
27:32 | parked and stuff like that.
27:35 | >> Yeah. What do they what do they have
27:37 | right now?
27:39 | >> Just one speaker in the uh thing that
27:41 | they that's m that's portable. So it's
27:44 | not not much. I'll put it that way.
27:50 | >> Yeah.
27:51 | No.
28:00 | Is that something that we should just I
28:03 | mean I'm I'm assuming that they did
28:04 | their research on the best speakers that
28:06 | they you know
28:07 | >> Yeah.
28:08 | Yeah. I think that they've been talk
28:10 | about this for years I think but now
28:13 | it's the final finally time as far as
28:15 | where someone's reached out and said hey
28:18 | uh you have a wish list and this made
28:21 | it. So,
28:22 | >> yep. Um,
28:23 | >> just one minute.
28:27 | >> I mean,
28:28 | >> we have the funding to do it.
28:30 | >> Yeah. All right. Through the Amazon. All
28:32 | right. I'd like to make a motion through
28:34 | Amazon that we provide the Dolby
28:36 | Charlton youth football to purchase the
28:42 | uh
28:44 | name of the outdoor sound system
28:48 | and page your mic for $5,147.99
28:51 | through the Amazon account
28:54 | >> part of our
28:56 | >> Okay. All those in favor I
28:58 | >> I
29:00 | >> All right. And I will email both I'm
29:03 | still waiting to hear back from soccer
29:04 | because they're on the list as well to
29:07 | see what they have as far as their wish
29:09 | list, but I will email both Corey and
29:12 | John to get hard hard numbers on on
29:15 | their items
29:18 | as far as what's on their wish list.
29:21 | So, um
29:24 | then we can move forward with those guys
29:26 | as far as prioritizing
29:29 | um as far as prioritizing their uh
29:34 | their wish list items. I know that. I
29:35 | mean, because obviously batting has the
29:37 | most so they to be the most have the
29:39 | most work as far as prioritizing, but I
29:41 | mean softball they pretty well with
29:44 | their three yards.
29:44 | >> I amum like I'm I happy to do you know
29:49 | um we just kind of did like you know
29:51 | 7,000 for um for football if we can you
29:56 | know kind of equal it. Oh yeah.
29:59 | >> Yeah. Give them all something happy um
30:02 | to to to do that. And I know there are
30:04 | certain things that are a little more
30:05 | expensive and all that, but um
30:07 | >> absolutely
30:08 | >> look at that. But yeah, let's once we
30:09 | get those numbers, I'm have let's do
30:11 | that too. That this I said I the money's
30:14 | been sitting there sitting there earning
30:17 | high, you know, just sitting there and
30:19 | um
30:19 | >> yeah, not getting any interest either.
30:21 | >> Definitely not. And our, you know, our
30:23 | um and our sports families aren't
30:25 | getting any use, you know, they you
30:27 | know, this will just make everything
30:28 | better for them um and more safe. So
30:33 | Yeah. And for the kids, too.
30:35 | >> Yeah.
30:36 | >> Make that experience.
30:37 | >> Thanks for doing that. Yeah. Thanks for
30:39 | kind of
30:41 | >> No problem. I mean, let's I'm of the
30:43 | same opinion. The money's the money's
30:44 | sitting there. Let's put it to use as
30:46 | far as if it can benefit the kids and
30:48 | enjoy their experience playing growing
30:50 | up in town here. So, all right. Next
30:54 | meeting. Um
30:55 | >> Oh, the pickle the pickle ball um
30:58 | benches. So, we
31:00 | >> Yep. Yep. Yep. All right. Sorry. Thank
31:03 | you for bringing that up.
31:04 | >> So, we I I know I know um they want
31:07 | another bench. Um the the the project um
31:14 | you know the the the actual project has
31:16 | the correct amount of benches. Um and we
31:19 | talked many times about building another
31:21 | one again because there's that you know
31:22 | people are people want it. I and I and I
31:25 | did say that, you know, I'll talk to my
31:27 | son and we voted that I could go and get
31:30 | the um Home Depot credit card from Mary
31:33 | and and go and buy the materials. I just
31:36 | um between like all all the ROC stuff
31:39 | and college and um and civil air patrol
31:43 | and SC like he's just overwhelmed. He's
31:46 | taken a couple of college courses this
31:48 | summer. Um I I I we just haven't sort of
31:53 | um
31:54 | made it like just sort of like made it
31:57 | happen. My husband said if necessary,
31:59 | you know, he can go and and and and
32:02 | build it. So we'll I I I can't it might
32:05 | take a little while, but I know
32:07 | eventually that we have a goal to get
32:09 | another um bench in there. Um I mean,
32:14 | >> I just can't promise a a a time. Okay.
32:17 | Maybe we maybe we can throw it in by
32:19 | the, you know, by the end of the summer.
32:20 | I'll I'll see what um
32:24 | >> what I can do.
32:25 | >> And in the meantime, I'll Perfect. And
32:28 | in the meantime, I'll go and if I said
32:30 | if if if I we can I'll just said same.
32:33 | We already had voted on it. I'll go grab
32:35 | the Home Depot card. It's only it's only
32:37 | a few, you know, um a couple hundred.
32:40 | Not I don't even know if it's 200 to get
32:42 | all the you know the the um pieces all
32:45 | the treated wood and all that. So um let
32:48 | me I I'll um I mean I said I let me give
32:54 | me some time. I'll I'll get I'll I'll
32:56 | get it done. Just
32:58 | >> Yeah, we'll check back in September.
33:00 | >> Right. Perfect.
33:01 | >> How's that? See where you're at.
33:02 | >> Perfect.
33:03 | >> Good with that.
33:04 | >> Okay. Perfect. All right. Let's do that.
33:07 | Let's do that. Perfect. All right. So,
33:09 | next meeting. Now question. Do you have
33:10 | a problem with next meetings in person
33:12 | at highway?
33:13 | >> No, this is excellent. That's good.
33:14 | >> Just because I know I know that Brad had
33:16 | asked and I let's try and do every
33:19 | couple I mean do a couple of Zoom and do
33:21 | a in person or do whatever just to
33:25 | because I mean I can't even remember
33:26 | when was it over the winter we had one
33:28 | in February.
33:29 | >> Yeah.
33:30 | >> Yeah. So
33:32 | >> it's been a while. Plus, I can bring
33:33 | down that that print of Maynard Field
33:37 | from the site plan back in 1995 that I
33:40 | don't think is in the file because I'd
33:42 | gotten three copies of it.
33:44 | >> Okay, perfect.
33:44 | >> From the planning board office. So, I
33:46 | can add that to our file as far as the
33:49 | recreation commission goes just so that
33:51 | we have because that's an that's that
33:52 | was an approved site plan which I mean
33:54 | in my opinion should be in our file.
33:56 | >> Yeah.
33:57 | >> Um just as record. So, all right. So,
34:01 | getting to August for the date. I mean,
34:06 | I know I'm we're done with our vacations
34:08 | for the for the summer, so I am um I'm
34:12 | pretty open. Do you have anything where
34:14 | you we know you you're not available on
34:16 | any of the Mondays?
34:18 | >> No, all my Mondays look pretty look
34:20 | pretty fine. Um
34:26 | >> what do you what what do you think? Um,
34:29 | >> I I mean, you want to do the 10th?
34:33 | >> Yep, that looks that looks fine.
34:36 | >> All right. August 10th is our next
34:38 | meeting.
34:40 | No,
34:43 | >> all right. Perfect. August 10th. All
34:46 | right. Do you have anything else that
34:48 | came up? Um, I know that we I don't
34:52 | think Do you have anything else that
34:54 | came up that we didn't hit on?
34:56 | >> Nope. And I will I will look into the
34:58 | healthy the healthy cities grant and see
35:01 | if it if there's anything that would
35:03 | would work at Prindle and and um just do
35:06 | a little research and if we can get it,
35:08 | you know, why not why not try to get it.
35:12 | >> All right, perfect. All right, being
35:14 | 644, do we have a motion to adjurnn?
35:17 | >> I make a motion that we adjourn.
35:19 | >> Second. All those in favor? I
35:21 | >> I.
35:23 | >> All right, Py. Thank you very much. Have
35:24 | a good rest of the week.
35:25 | >> All right. You too. Bye-bye.
