Salem Creek Greenway Low Water Bridge
Context
Feasibility study by Kimley-Horn (Alex McIntyre) for a section of the Salem Creek Greenway that floods and acts as a spillway. The goal is to move the greenway out of the floodway with a 10-foot ADA-compliant hard-surface path, minimizing retaining walls, boardwalks and bridges. The bridge alone is estimated at $285,000 within a $4-5 million project; two alternatives have similar cost but different grades (Alternative 2 has a 7% grade on both sides). Federal funding through the TPO is in place but supplemental funding is needed.
Status
Committee reviewed final concepts on Aug. 12, 2026; the consultant will look into a construction detour and the possibility of a natural-surface mountain bike route. A public survey is open, and a public meeting is scheduled Oct. 21, 2026, 5:30-7:00 PM at Salem Lake Marina.
