2026-09-14 - Public Safety Committee

Summary

The committee approved its consent agenda 4-0 (minutes only). The main item was first reading of a proposal to extend the Youth Protection Ordinance; the police chief presented and answered questions. A motion by Council Member Hall, seconded by Scippio, to recommend approval failed 2-2, with Joiner and Andree-Bowen opposed, so the item went to the City Council on 10/5 without a committee recommendation. Assistant Chief J. Gomez gave an information-only report on camera technology and community trust. Assistant City Manager Sharon Wojda previewed the next meeting (an Emergency Management update and recognition of a firefighter on a statewide task force). The meeting adjourned at 3:06 p.m.
