2026-08-10 - General Government Committee

Summary

Chair Mayor Pro Tempore Adams called the meeting to order (the minutes say 3 p.m., although the heading says 4:00 PM) with all four members present. The consent agenda, with items C-3 and C-5 pulled, passed unanimously: a public hearing on the UDO-CC36 flood insurance text amendment (8/17), demolition hearings for 2608 Stockton Street and 1511 Attucks Street, and $3,751,283 in Continuum of Care homeless assistance funds. Council Member Joiner pulled the 3005 Teresa Avenue demolition to ask about expired citations and a 14-month delay and why 2802 Trent Street was not listed; staff said Trent Street would come in September. The committee also recommended rescinding the $2,258,234 HOME-ARP allocation to Step Up America, a hearing on designating the Chatham Block a local historic landmark, and time extensions for two Wynnefield Forward affordable housing projects (Lofts at Motor Road and Residences at Indiana). On the latter, Adams, Hall and Clark complained of poor communication about project starts, and Burke asked for a way for Council Members to reach Code Enforcement officers directly. The vote lines for C-3 and C-5 are cut off in the source text. The meeting adjourned at 5:27 p.m.
