Public Works Facility Project

Context

A new Town public works building with meeting space large enough for both boards, office and storage space for park staff, public restrooms, curb and gutter, paving and two picnic shelters at the Town Park, designed by Metropolis Architecture (Marty Marion, see Marty Marion) under a Building Committee led by Brock Hall. Council chose traditional ground-up construction over a pre-engineered metal building to match the Town Hall and park. Funding is by capital project ordinance from fund balance rather than the annual budget.

Key figures: Metropolis agreement $145,400 (basic services for the municipal building and parking $97,650; two picnic shelters and parking $47,750), Project Ordinance 26-01, April 6, 2026. Amendment No. 1 (Ordinance 27-02 on the document, 27-01 in the motion) added $9,615 for geotechnical borings by Certerra, raising the project to $155,015, September 8, 2026. Construction costs are not yet estimated; no construction ordinance has been adopted.

Status

Design about 50% documented as of September 22 (picnic shelters about 30 by 40 feet, scissor trusses; construction documents 8 to 12 weeks after the geotechnical report, then at least a 30 day public bid). Council said it intended to vote on the design October 5; the October 5 agenda lists the item, and no minutes are posted yet.
