Wireless Tower Height Text Amendment (160 to 199 Feet)

Context

A Planning Board-initiated text amendment to the Zoning Ordinance raised the permitted height of wireless telecommunication towers from 160 feet to 199 feet (Table of Permitted Uses, Article V special use requirements, Article VI standards). Lee Crook explained that 199 feet stays under the FAA's 200-foot lighting threshold and restores the original intent of the wireless committee; setbacks of 350 feet to side and rear lines remain. It was prompted in part by Galaxi Towers Rezoning - Emanuel Church Road (REZ-26-12).

Status

The Planning Board approved it 5-0 on July 7 and the Commissioners passed it on July 16, per the July 21 minutes. The July 7 minutes are attached to the July 21 packet.
