2026-09-09 - Transportation Committee
Summary
Short meeting (about three minutes), written from auto-captions with no speaker labels. Minutes were approved, then Chuck George gave the High Point area transportation (MPO) report: local project scoring votes were held in recent weeks and Thomasville did not rank high; the US 109/64 bridge replacement is about 43 percent complete; the NC Railroad and Norfolk Southern freight separation at Turner Street (a bridge from Liberty to Turner) is in planning with engineers; the Fisher Ferry bridge replacement has a let date of May 26 (year not stated, captions say it would begin "next May") with progress on the CSX railroad issue; a bridge toward Caney Road was part of the voting; and the left-turn improvement on US 109 is slated for July 2029. There were no questions and the meeting adjourned. The city's upload for this meeting is labeled part 2 of a "Transportation Committee Meeting"; part 1 of that title actually holds the Public Safety Committee (2026-09-09 - Public Safety Committee). (Fisher Ferry and Holly Hill Signal Removal covers the related Fisher Ferry bridge project.)
