HomeServe Utility Line Insurance Program

Context

The North Carolina Rural Water Association has partnered with HomeServe on optional insurance for customers (water line meter to house up to $12,000, sewer line to the public main up to $12,000, interior plumbing up to $3,000) and a high-water-bill program under which the city would pay about $140,000 a year to cover bills, against write-offs of $80,000 and $60,000 in the last two years.
