City Technology Pilot Projects
Context
Three technology pilots from the city's technology and innovation committee, funded by cyber attack insurance proceeds (Cyber Attack Insurance Claim): GovAI ($24,000 a year; a closed, monitored AI platform to replace ad hoc ChatGPT subscriptions, aimed at public records compliance and protecting personal information), Threefold AI ($20,000; an AI phone intake that creates work tickets in Central Square, piloted in utilities billing and collections and in streets and sanitation, targeting a 20% drop in calls in 90 days) and Marketplace.city ($24,000; procurement price benchmarking, with an 80% adoption target). Each is below the $90,000 council approval threshold.
Status
Staff will re-evaluate at 90 days, six, nine and twelve months and report back to council. Council members praised the success metrics and the closed-loop design.
